Great Region Concert!!

This past weekend a group of our students participated in the All-Region Clinic and Concert at Baylor University. Halimah Jones, Cournie Sample, Kirby Bramson, Brooke Thomas, Jessica Taylor, and Erica Myers participated in the 9/10 Choir with clinician Gloria Stephens. Claudia Lee, Erin Sherry, Lixi Vitale, Sarah Callaway, Katy Templin, Bethany Feldman, Sarah McKneely, Peyton Austin, Garrison Liles, Brooke Dooley, Avery Wendt, Alex Reese, Pranitha Patil, and Ryan Kreider participated in the 9-12 Choir with clinician Dr. Lloyd Hawthorne. Sarah McKneely performed a solo on the women's piece, Cantate Domino. Our students had a great time with the clinicians and sounded beautiful at their performance. We are very proud of their achievements!

There is nothing scheduled this week, although we want to remind students that the second round of sponsorships are due Tuesday, November 24th! This is a great opportunity to raise funds for Austria or future trips (as well as any other choir expenses-like an unpaid choir fee!). Students receive nearly 100% profit for their sponshorship efforts! If you need a form, there are some available in the choir hall as well as in the file box on our blog.

Last week we sent out an electronic form of the newsletter as well as flyers for the concert, carol grams, and corporate performances. Please let us know if you did not get the email or could not open one of the forms. We may be posting them here as well! Soon we will be sending out another flyer with prices for our PECAN fundraiser! These are great gifts and will be available in several sizes of bags! Details coming soon!

Thank you for all you do for our choir program in support of our students! We could not do it without the level of parent support you provide!!

Let's make a great week!

We are very proud of ALL our students that participated in the auditions and excited that many of them will be representing our program at the Region clinic and concert.

This is a busy week at Consol because it is HOMECOMING!

Tomorrow night, Chorale members will rehearse for the "Fall of the Wall" Patriotic Concert with BHS and RHS choirs. The rehearsal will be from 6-8 in the AMC Choir Hall.

Wednesday is the Homecoming Carnival. We need choir members to bring supplies so that we can sell Caramel Apples to benefit United Way. Chorale and JV Women's Choir need to bring Apples (preferrably the Granny Smith variety). Varsity Women, Mens Choir, and Concert Women need to bring Caramels. Students will receive a bonus grade if they bring these items. The more supplies we have, the more we can sell! Please help us support our community! Also, we will need help after school to prepare and sell the apples, so meet us in the choir room if you'd like to help!

Friday Chorale members and Seniors are singing at the Homecoming game. Arrive in your choir T-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes at 6:45. We will sing at 7:30 and then you are free to watch the game or leave.

Next Tuesday Chorale will sing with Bryan and Rudder High School choirs at the "Fall of the Wall" presentation at George Bush Library. Chorale students will be excused from 7th period to grab a snack and get ready in their Maroon "We Are the Tigers" t-shirt (with optional sleeves underneath if it is cold), jeans, and tennis shoes. They need to be at George Bush Library at 3:45. George Bush Senior and Condoleezza  Rice will be speaking at the event about the fall of the Berlin Wall. The choirs will sing two selections around 6:30PM. There are no available tickets for Dr. Rice's speech, but the plaza around the Library will be open to the public for the video presentation and choir performances. More details to come!!

NEXT Saturday, November 14th is the Region Choir Clinic and Concert. This is for choir members that made either the 9-12 Region Choir back in September or the 9/10 Region Choir this past weekend. Students will need to wear their choir t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. They need to bring a pencil, their original music copies, a water bottle, a black choir folder, and their uniform. We will leave AMCHS at 6AM, rehearse at Baylor University and sing for the concert at 5PM. Lunch will be provided. Parents are invited to come to the concert at 5PM. After the concert (around 6:30PM) students may leave with their parents with permission (MR. ANGEL OR MS. DAVIS MUST SEE YOU WITH THIS PARENT!!) or ride back to AMCHS on the bus.

We are proud of the work our students are doing. We appreciate our choir members and parents' participation and support during this busy time!

Happy Homecoming week!

We will be working on music during class as well as after school on Tuesday for 9/10 and on Thursday for Area. Let us know if you would like to work other times or during advocate period.

We are still looking for one or two more chaperones to make the trip to Waco with us. Please let us know if your parent is willing to join us!

We asked students today for information on their parents' employment. This was in reference to possibly offering "corporate" tables for the Taste of Christmas Concert in December. If you or your business/place of employment would be willing to purchase a table for the dessert dinner, please let us know. We will have prices and numbers soon.

Thank you for your support of the AMCHS Choral Program!

Great Concert!

Mr. Angel and Miss Davis would like to commend the performances of all six choirs on Monday night. All of our students have worked very hard and we are proud of the music you are making! Thank you also to the parents, friends, and family that came to support our program! We appreciate all your support.

Now we are starting on Christmas music in preparation for A Taste of Christmas on December 11th, 12th, and 13th. This is a dessert dinner concert, so be sure to make your reservations early! We will start taking money for this event on November 16th! I know it seems kind of early to be thinking about the holidays, but in reality we have only a little over a month to prepare music and plan the concert!

Announcements

Hello!

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the wonderful weather this weekend!

Tonight is our concert. Choir members need to arrive at 6PM in the Choir Hall in their uniform. For ladies this means their choir dress, black pantyhose, and FLAT black closed-toe shoes. For gentlemen this means their choir tux, vest, jacket, BLACK socks, and black dress shoes. Additionally, choir members with long hair need to have it pulled up and back out of their face. Ladies are strongly encouraged to wear eye and lip makeup at the very least. Although I know having to pull hair up and wear make-up may seem like a hassle, it is so our choir members faces' and expression can be seen from the audience without being washed out by the lights or covered up by their hair. The less distraction, the better.

We would like to remind both our choir members and our audience members that cell phones, ipods, or other noise-making devices need to be turned off and out of sight. Our choirs have been working very hard the past few weeks and need to be able to show off their accomplishments. If there are any questions about our expectations for the concert, feel free to download and read the Choir Concert Expectations document to the right.

This week we will also be working Region and Area music. 9/10 Region will rehearse Tuesday afternoon and Area will rehearse Thursday afternoon. Remember that the choir directors are available to work with individuals or small groups, just ask us and schedule a time in advance!!

This Wednesday Letter Jacket Forms are due. If your child would like a Choir Letter Jacket, have them come get a form from one of the directors.

Also, we are offering a second round of sponsorships, so if you or your student still needs to raise funds for Austria, they can continue to seek out donations from local businesses and friends. In order to be placed in the Christmas Concert Program, ads and sponsorships need to be in by November 24th (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving!)

The choir program will be sending out letters to those going on the Choir Tour to Austria. Please check over the information in those letters and help us correct anything that is wrong. Also be sure to get the first installment paid before the end of October!

Let's make it a great week!
