Great Region Concert!!

This past weekend a group of our students participated in the All-Region Clinic and Concert at Baylor University. Halimah Jones, Cournie Sample, Kirby Bramson, Brooke Thomas, Jessica Taylor, and Erica Myers participated in the 9/10 Choir with clinician Gloria Stephens. Claudia Lee, Erin Sherry, Lixi Vitale, Sarah Callaway, Katy Templin, Bethany Feldman, Sarah McKneely, Peyton Austin, Garrison Liles, Brooke Dooley, Avery Wendt, Alex Reese, Pranitha Patil, and Ryan Kreider participated in the 9-12 Choir with clinician Dr. Lloyd Hawthorne. Sarah McKneely performed a solo on the women's piece, Cantate Domino. Our students had a great time with the clinicians and sounded beautiful at their performance. We are very proud of their achievements!

There is nothing scheduled this week, although we want to remind students that the second round of sponsorships are due Tuesday, November 24th! This is a great opportunity to raise funds for Austria or future trips (as well as any other choir expenses-like an unpaid choir fee!). Students receive nearly 100% profit for their sponshorship efforts! If you need a form, there are some available in the choir hall as well as in the file box on our blog.

Last week we sent out an electronic form of the newsletter as well as flyers for the concert, carol grams, and corporate performances. Please let us know if you did not get the email or could not open one of the forms. We may be posting them here as well! Soon we will be sending out another flyer with prices for our PECAN fundraiser! These are great gifts and will be available in several sizes of bags! Details coming soon!

Thank you for all you do for our choir program in support of our students! We could not do it without the level of parent support you provide!!

Let's make a great week!

Weekly Reminders

2nd Six weeks' report cards come out this week. Final grades go in TOMORROW at noon, so if you are missing anything, get it made up NOW! Students, you/your parents have access to your grades via the Pinnacle website, so it is YOUR responsibility to keep up with your grades.

Today Chorale will be singing with Bryan and Rudder choirs at the George Bush Library. Students are excused from 7th period and need to be at the library at 3:45 to rehearse. Wear your MAROON Tiger T-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes with NO jewelry and hair tied back! Dr. Rice will begin speaking at 5:30 and we will probably sing around 6:30. The plaza is open to the public, so if family or friends would like to watch the choir, you may do so. Hope for no rain!

Saturday is the Region Clinic and Performance at Baylor University. We will leave AMCHS at 6:30 AM. The concert begins at 5 and is open to family and friends. We will leave around 6:30 and hopefully be back to the high school by 8:30. Wear your choir t-shirt, jeans,  and tennis shoes. Bring your music, choir folder, a pencil, a water bottle, a jacket (might be cold in rehearsals), and your uniform WITH ALL ITS PIECES!! You should really enjoy the clinicians. You may leave after the concert with YOUR parents only if either Ms. Davis or Mr. Angel sees you and the parent. Do not leave without permission.

Let's make it a great week!

Area/Region Results & Weekly Reminders

This weekend some our choir members auditioned for the chance to be a part of either the 9th/10th grade region choir or advance to Area Auditions for the All-State Choir.

Three of our students advanced to Area Auditions: Garrison Liles-Bass I, Sarah McKneely-Soprano I, and Alex Reese-Bass II. Two of our students will be alternates for the Area Auditions: Bethany Feldman-Alto II, and Avery Wendt-Soprano I.

Seven of our freshman and sophomore students will be participating in the 9/10 Region Choir: Courtnie Sample-Soprano, Kristen Newman-Soprano, Kirby Bramson-Soprano, Halimah Jones-Soprano, Erica Myers-Alto, Brooke Thomas-Alto, and Jessica Taylor-Alto.

We are very proud of ALL our students that participated in the auditions and excited that many of them will be representing our program at the Region clinic and concert.

This is a busy week at Consol because it is HOMECOMING!

Tomorrow night, Chorale members will rehearse for the "Fall of the Wall" Patriotic Concert with BHS and RHS choirs. The rehearsal will be from 6-8 in the AMC Choir Hall.

Wednesday is the Homecoming Carnival. We need choir members to bring supplies so that we can sell Caramel Apples to benefit United Way. Chorale and JV Women's Choir need to bring Apples (preferrably the Granny Smith variety). Varsity Women, Mens Choir, and Concert Women need to bring Caramels. Students will receive a bonus grade if they bring these items. The more supplies we have, the more we can sell! Please help us support our community! Also, we will need help after school to prepare and sell the apples, so meet us in the choir room if you'd like to help!

Friday Chorale members and Seniors are singing at the Homecoming game. Arrive in your choir T-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes at 6:45. We will sing at 7:30 and then you are free to watch the game or leave.

Next Tuesday Chorale will sing with Bryan and Rudder High School choirs at the "Fall of the Wall" presentation at George Bush Library. Chorale students will be excused from 7th period to grab a snack and get ready in their Maroon "We Are the Tigers" t-shirt (with optional sleeves underneath if it is cold), jeans, and tennis shoes. They need to be at George Bush Library at 3:45. George Bush Senior and Condoleezza  Rice will be speaking at the event about the fall of the Berlin Wall. The choirs will sing two selections around 6:30PM. There are no available tickets for Dr. Rice's speech, but the plaza around the Library will be open to the public for the video presentation and choir performances. More details to come!!

NEXT Saturday, November 14th is the Region Choir Clinic and Concert. This is for choir members that made either the 9-12 Region Choir back in September or the 9/10 Region Choir this past weekend. Students will need to wear their choir t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. They need to bring a pencil, their original music copies, a water bottle, a black choir folder, and their uniform. We will leave AMCHS at 6AM, rehearse at Baylor University and sing for the concert at 5PM. Lunch will be provided. Parents are invited to come to the concert at 5PM. After the concert (around 6:30PM) students may leave with their parents with permission (MR. ANGEL OR MS. DAVIS MUST SEE YOU WITH THIS PARENT!!) or ride back to AMCHS on the bus.

We are proud of the work our students are doing. We appreciate our choir members and parents' participation and support during this busy time!

Happy Homecoming week!
